Stela Barbieri was born in Araraquara (countryside of the State of São Paulo) in 1965.
She works with a great deal of materials such as latex, glass, pigments, sand, beeswax and clay. She starts on organic forms that – through her work – are transformed into a new body nature.
She has taken drawing and painting classes with plastic artist Carlos Fajardo. She has also participated in Aesthetic study groups, coordinated by Art critic Alberto Tassinari, in History of Art study groups, with Rodrigo Naves, and in Philosophy ones, with Rogério da Costa.
Stela Barbieri had her first professional exhibition in 1990 and, since then, she has been showing her art regularly in different institutions and cultural centers – either through her own projects or as an invited artist – in Brazil and abroad.
