Stela Barbieri provides professional advisement for schools and cultural institutions. She believes the teaching of Art must acknowledge the improvement of people’s sensibility, perception and of an artistic reasoning. The point of this artistic reasoning would be to allow people to better apprehend the world and the Arts, and to help them artistically express themselves, by understanding the different advantages of an integrate work that really favors this process.

The teaching of Art is always connected to the art in vogue during each historical context. The Art as it is presented today actually talks to the multiple fields of knowledge. In other words, it carries a visual construction that permits the interchange between different areas; it is a transcendent disciplinary overview. Starting from an idea (concept-project) or from an experience with materials, one can express what he feels, thinks, observes, imagines and desires, adjusting his projects to the technical limits of each material, to the available technologies and to the reality of the creation.

Production in Arts should follow the individual-matter-context relation. In a perspective related to the teaching of visual contemporary arts, it is very important to observe and question the world around us, keeping alive the inquirer inside the student. For that, it is fundamental art educators act as creators and researchers, questioning any Art work before and along with their students so that, together, they can always improve their knowledge.
